Biography

Colleen Badenhop has been offering up her introspective songs to Dayton audiences since 2011, bringing her digital piano along to solo performances all around town. She cut her singer/songwriter teeth on stage at the former Dayton staple Canal Street Tavern, and has had recurring appearances at Bruning’s Wine, Yellow Cab Tavern, A Taste of Wine, and One Eyed Jacks. Colleen can often be found in the lineups of local music festivals as well, including Dayton Sideshow, Dayton Ladyfest, and the Songwriters’ Solstice. She has been a featured guest on WYSO Public Radio’s local music shows Excursions and Kaleidoscope. Colleen’s wide variety of subject matter, her complex and unexpected harmonies, and her impeccable sense of rhyme and rhythm make her songs both comfortable and refreshing to her listeners, drawing comparisons with Sara Bareilles and Carole King.

Colleen’s newest release is a nine-song album titled All the Air You Need. Brought to fruition in 2017, this project was recorded and produced at Babblefish Studios with producer Steve Falearos. Colleen’s debut album, On the Inside (also produced at Babblefish), was released in 2014 as the product of a successful Kickstarter campaign.

Colleen has been singing since childhood in various school and college choirs, earning two degrees in music education along the way from Bowling Green State University and Wright State University. She resides in Beavercreek with her husband Chris and three children.
